Mallorca is presented for the first time in person at the global meeting of the International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories held in Madrid.
The Sustainable Tourism Observatory of Mallorca participates in the world meeting of the International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories (INSTO network) of the World Tourism Organization, which took place at its headquarters in Madrid. Representatives of 35 observatories have shared the latest updates on the development of international tourism. As well as the advances on the measurement of sustainable tourism and the role played by the observatories of the INSTO network in the sustainable transformation of destinations.
For the first time in person, the Sustainable Tourism Observatory of Mallorca, which depends on the Department of Transition, Tourism and Sports of the Consell Consejo de Mallorca, has been presented to the rest of the network, along with six other observatories. At the convention, the management of the open data portal for governance that will soon be published by the Observatory of Mallorca was presented. Also shared was the entity's intention to manage predictive models in order to provide more information for decision making and generate policies focused on the island's tourism sustainability.
The meeting, which lasted two days, was attended by the island director of Transició i Ordenació Turística, Joan Gaspar Vallori, and the head of the Sustainable Tourism Observatory of Mallorca, Mónica Núñez.
This meeting has been an opportunity for established observatories, potential interested destinations and other tourism stakeholders to share experiences, learn from good practices and move forward together in efforts to create a sustainable destination.
