The head of the Directorate General of Tourism Intelligence of the Mexican state meets with the Minister of Transition, Tourism and Sports during her visit to Mallorca.

The Councilor of Transition, Tourism and Sports, Andreu Serra, and the island director of Transition and Tourism Planning, Joan Gaspar Vallori, met this morning with the head of the Directorate General of Tourism Intelligence of the Ministry of Tourism of the state of Guanajuato, Miriam Adame, who is in Mallorca to learn about the operation of the Sustainable Tourism Observatory of Mallorca.

The representative of the Government of Guanajuato shared working strategies of the observatories, which monitor the economic, environmental and social impact of tourism in a specific place. During the visit, she met the team of the Sustainable Tourism Observatory of Mallorca and they shared the management of the Tourism Intelligence System, the categorization of indicators and the dashboards to visualize the information.

For her part, the technical secretary of the Tourism Observatory of the state of Guanajuato explained that "this is an opportunity to share best practices and different forms of data collection. It is an opportunity to share knowledge and to join forces".

The head of the Directorate General of Tourism Intelligence will continue her visit to Mallorca tomorrow, where she will visit the facilities of TIRME, a world reference in waste management.

The Tourism Observatory of the state of Guanajuato, like the Sustainable Tourism Observatory of Mallorca, is part of the 35 observatories of the World Tourism Organization's INSTO Network. A network created to monitor the economic, environmental and social impact of tourism at the destination level. The initiative is based on the sustainable and resilient growth of the sector through measurement and monitoring, supporting evidence-based tourism management.

As a member, since 2021, of the International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories (INSTO Network), the Observatory offers 20 categories of data to analyze the impact of tourism.
