The president of the Portuguese organization meets with the Minister of Tourism during his visit to Mallorca and shares experiences.
The Councilor of Tourism of the Consell de Mallorca, José Marcial Rodríguez Díaz, met this Tuesday with a delegation of the Tourism Observatory of the Azores Islands, who came to Mallorca with the aim of sharing experiences and learning first-hand about the functioning of the Sustainable Tourism Observatory of Mallorca.
The president of the Azores Observatory, Carlos Santos, has known during his visit to the team of the Sustainable Tourism Observatory the work of monitoring data, both economic and social and environmental tourism and have shared the management of the Tourism Intelligence System, the categorization of indicators and scorecards to visualize the information.
During the visit, both delegations signed a memorandum of understanding and have committed to maintain a constant dialogue that allows further progress in the work that both organizations develop.
After the meeting, Rodriguez praised the initiative and stressed that “meeting and sharing experiences and knowledge with other observatories outside our borders will help us to improve and achieve an even better and more complete tool”.
The Azores Tourism Observatory, like the Sustainable Tourism Observatory of Mallorca, is one of the 39 observatories of the World Tourism Organization's INSTO Network. A network created to monitor the economic, environmental and social impact of tourism at destination level.
The Sustainable Tourism Observatory of Mallorca is born in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain with the European funds Next Generation EU aligned with the strategic plan of the FMT. As a member since 2021 of the International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories (INSTO Network), it offers 20 categories of data to analyze the impact of Tourism.
