The Mallorca PID project, promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, will bring together all available tourist information to facilitate improved management.

The Tourism Department of Consell de Mallorca has secured €4.88 million in grants from the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, through the State Company for the Management of Tourism Innovation and Technologies (Segittur), for the deployment of technological platforms and digital solutions within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.

The main objective of the Mallorca PID project is to create a comprehensive Smart Destination Platform (PID) that brings together all the tourism information available in the Consell de Mallorca to facilitate and promote better tourism management on the island. The total amount awarded is 96% of the requested amount: €4.88 million, compared to the €5.06 million that was initially requested.

This platform will allow for better tourism planning and management through the integration and analysis of data from different sources. The objectives to be achieved with this grant include improving mobility and transportation on the island of Mallorca, including parking management, as well as personalizing and enhancing the tourist experience through the creation of digital travel logs.

In addition, the dissemination and access to tourist information about Mallorca will be improved, tools for analyzing tourist flows will be developed, urban solid waste management will be optimized, and hydrological management will be improved.

In the words of the Regional Minister of Tourism, José Marcial Rodríguez Díaz, "This is a project of great importance for Mallorca, which will also allow us to regulate and manage vacation accommodations and homes, evaluate the impact of tourism events, improve digital interaction between public administrations, visitors, and residents, and develop intelligence tools that improve understanding of tourism."
