Antoni Riera Font is Professor of Applied Economics at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and is the technical director of the Impulsa Balears Foundation, a platform of strategic knowledge and collaborative dynamics, unique in the Balearic Islands, which works to boost the sustainable global competitiveness of the archipelago.

He is a recognised expert in environmental economics, specifically in the field of the economic valuation of environmental services, with special mention of the tourism system, subjects on which he has published more than fifty articles in scientific journals of international prestige.

Much of his research career has been linked to the direction of the Centre de Recerca Económica (CRE) - UIB's own research center - and the promotion of the research group in Economic Analysis of the Impacts of Tourism (AEIT), where he has led the development of numerous contracts and research projects financed with European, state or regional funds. He has also chaired the Spanish-Portuguese Association of Natural and Environmental Resources (AERNA) and has been distinguished with several awards including the VII Catalonia Economics Award of the Catalan Society of Economics, the V Environment Award of the Consell Insular de Mallorca, the recognition of merits of the City of Manacor or the special mention of the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca.

In his teaching role, he has promoted various higher education programmes such as the Master's Degree in Business Management: Quality and the Environment, attached to the UNESCO/Sa Nostra Chair for Business Management and the Environment, which he also directed, the Master's Degree in Economics of Tourism and the Environment and the Master's Degree in Economics of Tourism: Monitoring and Evaluation.
