Interview
The interview began with a retrospective on what the island was like before the arrival of tourism, and how this completely changed it to be what it is today: an attractive destination with a unique beauty and an important connectivity with Europe.
The company's evolution through generational change, according to Sabina Fluxà, has been built on a legacy, with realism and ambition. She pointed to four examples of evolution: the promotion of a model of responsible tourism and put into practice, the development of talent, technology and the alliance with InterContinental Hotels Group.
Carmen Riu remarked that all companies in the sector, as well as the public administration, are needed to transform destinations.
Both agree that it is important to make a cultural change, but on the basis of respect. We must have a long-term vision and a collective effort of the entire value chain.
